With the start of a new month, I'm excited about new projects.  Here are a few things inspiring me this week:

Harvesting walnuts

There are at least five splendid black walnut trees standing proudly at Green Gables, their sturdy branches reaching out like the arms of old friends. These hard stone nuts have always held a certain enchantment for me. Each year, I make a solemn vow to do more with them, to embrace their potential fully. Yet, somehow, the days flutter away like autumn leaves, and my good intentions remain just that—intentions.

But this weekend, I felt a surge of determination. I decided to gather every walnut I could find scattered on the ground. As I began my harvest journey, my mind brimmed with wonder and curiosity. Do you, too, find delight in walnuts? They are such a splendid and nutritious treat, rich with the flavors of the earth.

Banjolina Barn On The Road

My mother and I have always dreamed of participating in the dozens of antique and maker sales we attend on a yearly basis. For decades, we've spent our time together, wandering through these charming events. This spring, our shared vision blossomed into reality with the launch of Banjolina Barn—a delightful mix of antiques, florals, and design.

Banjolina Barn is, in every sense, a family affair. My father, who plays his beloved banjo, has filled our lives with music and joy. Much of my childhood was spent amidst melodies and gatherings, the banjo a steadfast companion. The name Banjolina Barn is a heartfelt tribute to this cherished instrument, which has been a fixture in our lives and a wellspring of inspiration.

At Banjolina Barn, we curate time-honored heirloom pieces, each steeped in stories and beauty. These treasures add a touch of character and charm, echoing the warmth of history and the thrill of discovery. Our love for these unique finds is matched only by our joy in sharing them with others.

This fall, you will find us at Farmer Grey's Fall Gathering, a quintessential celebration of the season. Look for the sweetest vintage building by Jane—she is undoubtedly a kindred spirit, and her treasures are a testament to the timeless beauty we so adore. We can hardly wait to share our treasures and stories with you, inviting you to join us on September 14 in Battle Creek. Farmer Grey's is located right off I-94 in a historic 1859 schoolhouse.
